Slab City Photo Masterprint #7
Eclectic 35mm black and white image of the eccentric art in this unincorporated, off-the-grid alternative lifestyle community in the in the Salton Trough area of the Sonoran Desert in Imperial County, California.
Story: This abstract shoot was inspired by Hippies I met while photographing the Salton Sea and ghost-resort-town of Bombay Beach. While picking up drinks in the town of Niland for the several hour trip back to Los Angeles, these Hippie’s explained how this location was once a World War II training base that was demolished only leaving the concrete slabs i.e. “Slab City.” Alternative lifestyle snowbirds began occupying the location with RV’s and a focus on eclectic art creating the community that exists today!
