Mexican Hat Photo Master-print #5
Eclectic 35mm black and white film image photo print of a neglected Motel sign off Hwy 163 in Mexican Hat, Utah hearkening back to the classic 70’s and 80’s nature road-trip days
Story: The name "Mexican Hat" comes from a curiously sombrero-shaped rock outcropping on the northeast edge of town; the rock measures 60-foot wide by 12-foot. The "Hat" has two rock climbing routes ascending it and has frequently been noted on lists of unusual place names. The settlement was founded by E.L. Goodridge who established an unproductive oil claim there in 1908. Now it is known for its San Juan river rafting, climbing and unique look and name…
